ELEPHANT LEISURE RESORT is only 7 km away from Citrusdal with a lovely view of the Cederberg Mountain range and close to the Olifants river. Beautiful mountain views and a relaxing and calming atmosphere awaits the weary traveler.

The resort is situated in a wide valley between beautiful mountains with an excellent opportunity for hiking routes. The borehole that provides the water for the resort conforms to European standards for mineral water. The borehole of
87m delivers 11700 liter of water at a temperature of 28 - 30°C, all under its own natural pressure. Due to the fact that the water is forced through Cape Sandstone layers under its own pressure, there is no need for pumps or filters, by the time the water reaches the top it is sparkling clean.

How to get there

Heading north from Piketberg on the N7, a long, flat plain reaches out to the line of Olifants River Mountains, which the highway crosses by way of the impressive Piekenierskloof Pass, forged in 1857 by the indomitable road engineer Thomas Bain.

Coming down the northern side of the pass, the town of CITRUSDAL appears in the rolling countryside of the Olifants River Valley with the dramatic mountainscape of the Cederberg behind. Strange as it may seem now, early Dutch explorers saw huge herds of elephants here as they traveled north towards Namaqualand, so falling upon a
suitable name for the river and our beautifully resort.

To get to the resort, take the N7 north out of Cape Town for 175 km to Citrusdal. Turn right of the N7 towards Citrusdal, on your right you will see a road turning right again, follow this road for 8 km and you will find our resort nicely tucked away in the mountains.
